Good Copywriting for Emails

Files under Internet Marketing | Posted by Jeremy Long Chia Teik

Most of the time when we send ordinary emails to friends or even messages to corporate clients, we don’t really pay attention to the presentation, language and structure of the emails, do we? It seems alright if emails are directed to just friends, but certainly not if they are meant for corporate clients. These messages require attention as they can be the source of future revenue or they can lead to corporate damage.

Emails involves the usage of words, and its the words used that will have effect upon the result of the customers’ views. The effect can be either positive or negative. If it’s positive, words sell well. If it’s negative, they damage well too. In effect, words have the power to affect customers and control can only be exerted by the writer of the email. Emails have to be written with specially crafted words and not just ordinarily.

Good copywriting for emails require special attention in certain ways.

In any message writing, it is important to avoid repetitions. In many email observations, it is found that many of these emails show same thoughts repeated throughout the length of the salescopy. It is sad but it’s true. Why so extremely lengthy a salescopy when it could have been one in simple and clear format of reasonable length. The message in the email should come straight to the point, emphasizing the main reason(s) why the customer should buy from you. Being imperative is the point that the salescopy has to be attention-grabbing as read from the whole length of content in it. Still it must be void of redundancies, statements that tell the same thing repeatedly.

In email marketing, be personal in email writing. A personalized voice is essential to maintain contact with the customer. Customers feel they have someone listening to them at the other end. It’s the only way to keep the conversation going on. They will definitely read on because their attention is being captured by the personalized way of writing in the email. Slowly but steadily continue to construct the salescopy by showing them the main features and benefits and the advantages of buying from you. Simultaneously let them know the unique value proposition for your product or service, as you are talking with them in your emails. It is personalization in action.

Good email writing entails some creativity from the writer. It can be monotonous if emails that we receive daily appear lengthy and well written but without some form of liveliness. Certainly the fastest way out of this boredom is deleting them. It would be beneficial if the emails are written in a conversational language and style. There is more engagement with the customer in this way. Customers can feel the personal touch and nearness of the writer.

In good copywriting for emails, no effort is to be spared for using punctuation. This is normally effective in bringing customers to absorb what have been detailed out in the emails. Punctuation allows words in the emails to sink into the minds of customers. It encourages them to think and rethink as the words sink in.

The most important factor to be taken in consideration as far as good coywriting for emails is concerned, it is the emotion for the product or service to be sold. Emotion must be integral to the success of the sale. Selling some product or service without emotion shown is as good as knowing there will be no sale at all. In writing the email, there must be emotion in the choice of words to sell the product or service. Put simply, love what’s put on sale. Show the deep emotion that’s involved with it. Show the passion too.

Email writing should not be taken lightly. A good piece of email that sells well has to be given some time in careful thoughts and planning. Therefore, good copywriting for emails has to be learned, and it can only be so.
